The Byzantine Empire the Roman Empire was in trouble due to its large size, and for this reason Constantine made the city of Byzantium, or present-day Istanbul, his capital, dividing Rome into eastern and western parts.

The Ottoman Empire In 1453, Sultan Muhammad the Conqueror was able to end the Byzantine Empire, whose brilliant conquest was the conquest of Constantinople, or Constantine, the Byzantine capital, which has since been renamed Istanbul. This conquest is known as the origin of new centuries in European history.

Mustafa Kemal Pasha was recognized as the national hero of Turkey for organizing national resistance against foreign governments and was able to establish the Republic of Turkey in 1923 on the basis of the principle of separation of religion from politics and was awarded the title of Ataturk.
